Memorial Day Weekend

Last weekend was a busy one! James took Friday off so we tried to do some fun stuff without leaving town. One of the highlights was visiting Zilker Park and riding the train. Aaron had been the train a few times before, but I'm not sure he remembered it. This was Mia's first time. It was nice - not too hot and a little breezy.

We also went to the Austin Nature Center and dug for fossils in the Dino Pit and played on the Zilker Park playscape, which has the fun old time fire truck. Sometimes it's nice to just find fun things to do in town.

Mia did get a boo boo on her nose when she did a face plant on the sidewalk at the park. Mia just runs and runs as fast as she can, barely looking where she is going. She gets a new boo boo just about every day!

Last Day of Preschool

Tomorrow is Aaron's last day of preschool! Next year he is off to Kindergarten.

He had a really great teacher, Mrs. Tuttle. I can't tell you how happy I am that Aaron had such a good experience for his first year of school. It's somewhat bittersweet, because he will definitely miss his teacher and all of his new friends (most of them will be attending a different elementary school than Aaron).

Now we just have to figure out how to keep him busy all summer!

Swings...

I've just posted a picture of the kids on the swings. This is the first time Mia has used the "big girl" swings (and not the baby ones). She really loved it!

Just a note about the picture quality. Many of these pictures have been taken with my cell phone. You'll usually be able to tell which ones because the pictures turn out grainy or kind of blurry. Sorry about that! It seems like I never have my camera with me when I need it! Also, the pictures taken with my cell phone can usually be enlarged by clicking on them. (It has to do with the method I use to post the pics.)

Galveston!

We spent a few days down in Galveston for spring break and the kids had a great time! Aaron has been to the beach a couple of times (Galveston and Hawaii) but this was Mia's first time. The weather was a little cool and windy but that didn't stop the kids from having fun. They both love the sand and the waves. We plan on going on some day trips to Galveston this summer when it's warmer (okay - HOT).

The Return of the Gator

Mia appears to be very impressed that Aaron was able to "fix" the John Deere tractor that hadn't worked in months! For some time, the Gator would only go in reverse and became more of a climbing toy than a driving one. Somehow, it is working again! (Although it will only go in "slow" speed - not that that's a bad thing.) Aaron is all ready to teach Mia to drive - but I think it will be a few more months until she is ready!
