Birthdays

Aaron and Mia's birthdays are a week apart - Mia turned 2 on January 9th and Aaron turned 5 today. I now know that I need to plan their parties by the first of DECEMBER because who wants to plan birthday parties right after Christmas?

Anyway, Aaron had a bowling party at Main Event and got to invite some friends from the neighborhood and from school. This is the first time he got to invite his own friends. It was interesting seeing him interact with his friends!

Oh- and I was unable to get any decent photos from the actual bowling...

Mia will get a party next year, I promise!

At the Ranch

We took Aaron and Mia on their very first camping trip! Our friends Leslie and Jay invited us to spend New Year's Eve camping with them and we had so much fun. The kids got to ride in the above pictured all-terrain vehicle, pet some horses, play with the bird dogs, feed the cows, roast marshmallows and sleep in a tent. (Mia got to sleep in inside where there was heat!)



We yelled, "Wooooo Hoooo!" to get the cows to come.

Trail of Lights!

If you live in Austin you know all about the Trail of Lights. We have been planning since Thanksgiving to take the kids there because we haven't been since Mia was born. Finally, last night we got to go, but without Daddy because he is suffering from a cold and cough.

So, after almost an hour and a half drive in rush hour traffic from one side of Austin to another, we got an awesome parking place and arrived before they even lit the Zilker Tree or started popping the kettle corn! That gave the kids time to run off some steam from being cooped up in the car for so long. (Car DVD player - you rock!)

We were standing underneath the tree when it lit up, which was very exciting! We got a huge bag of fresh kettle corn and started on our way to the trail - which didn't open until 7pm!! Who knew? I assumed it opened at dusk. So, we only had to wait another 25 MINUTES for it to open.

Fortunately, we had our giant bag of kettle corn so the kids were fine. It finally opened up and we had fun looking at all the lights. We got home a little after 8pm and both kids were in bed and asleep by 8:45. (Only about 2 hours after their bedtime!)

Lesson learned: Since we don't live that close to Zilker Park anymore, we should plan to already be in the area by 3:30 or so on the day we plan to go!!!

On the Mend

Most of our family has been sick the last three weeks but Aaron and Mia are happy to be feeling much better! Mommy is happy too...

Aaron and Daddy had fun at the Auto Show today! Mommy and Mia had to miss out because Mia had a fever. At least Aaron go to see the cool cars and Spiderman!
